when i used Alien Biomes, Dectorio and Asphalt Roads (and even more other mods) in 0.16, i always hit the "255 IDs" hardlimit of Factorio.
So despite significant performance increase since updating to the most recent iteration of this mod, I still get FPS/UPS drops when fully zoomed out. So I've been using the beta version the mod you've posted in here and I've noticed severe performance issues. I guess having the mod there might change the load order of something so maybe a different mod adds another tile in after the alien biomes final fixes tries to work around the 255 limit. 60/60 to ~37/37. Anyway, what I did is remove alien biomes, load the save, save it under a new game, add alien biomes again, reload the new save, regenerate the terrain and endure all the concrete disappearing. Without the mod installed I get a full 60.Without this mod, i have 59-60 FPS, with this - FPS periodicaly drops down to 40-50, and when explore new tiles - i'm get half-second freezes... My processor wery low, but without alien biomes i can't any freezes.Initially there are UPS drops if you're doing the terrain regeneration becuase so many chunks get regenerated.

I've checked the code and the only thing in data.raw that it changes with/without the hr mod is whether or not a high res texture file is specified, nothing else changes. 1 year, 10 months ago Doesn't happen if I toggle Alien Biomes off and toggling AB HD textures has no effect. The latest version uses less decorative textures and uses tinting to get the colour variations but I have not had feedback on whether that fixed the problem (I can't recreate the problem myself). So specs shouldn't be an issue. So I was playing factorio and it dawned on me that there is just one biome really, just one large open area with trees scattered throughout. A collection of additional biomes: Snow, Volcanic, Crater, various colors of Dirt, Sand and Grass. I think it has to do with the sheer number of decoratives placed by this mod.
