shifted hands to Howard Hughes. I, too, first saw this film a little while after it came out, when I was younger than the main character was supposed to be. Then, you think about his perverse works at the end of the 1960s (Secret Ceremony) or his bombastic ones (Boom!) He manages to sneak some anti-capitalist bits into this, but it is by-and-large a message picture in color with a lot of old school hokum and schmaltz up its sleeve.
