It's part of business. Thats my biggest ROI throwing posts cards in a bag with a river rock in it.We had done 10,000 or so this year with 1 bad complaint. It is a federal offense. It is a great way to get in and people have never been offended if i took that approach.I get flyers dropped off at my doorstep all of the time. My cousin just got a job in Florida delivering flyers for a company that sells a water purification device. It may be a cheap form of advertising that is attractive to new start-ups. If I see a no soliciting sign, then I don’t put a flyer on that property, plain and simple. When I first started out trying to save flyers, I knocked on doors trying to my business name out. The goon squads that prowl our neighborhood do not take the time to walk up individual driveways. I'm starting a new kind of business in March 2015 (1 year from now) and a big part of my marketing will be flyers.
If you are a good communicator then you will get the business.
It is a federal offense. If you are a good communicator then you will get the business. Plus I’m introverted so it’s harder for me to do that type of face to face sales thing anyways.I’ve run lawn crews before and I’ve always been a numbers guys so running the business hasn’t been to hard. I don't mind talking about it now that I'm out of the cleaning business. I read that door flyers are great but any tips on knowing where to start, knowing what neighborhoods are better than others, is there a better time of day to do this, etc. It made me lots of money. If you're in business, maybe making it easier for people who need your well-reviewed product or service to find you would be better than alienating thousands of others who don't want to have to clean up your mess. Most people say flyers don't work which I think is great... more money for me to make. It is a great way to get in and people have never been offended if i took that approach. But I would rather have a business with an established track record, so why advertise that you're not that that business? Maybe a reply from a homeowner would help here. I used flyers that I printed myself for 15 years. We put out about 1,000 flyers a week and at least once a month there is some retard calling my store complaining. I lucked out with google maps as it shows me on the first page as well. There is no need to get so upset.
Its worked for us in the past.
I've been cursed at and even threatened. I came across this site while searching for county codes on the distribution of flyers and handbills in residential communities. I believe people put No Soliciting signs on their homes only to deter people from knocking on their doors.
She's supposed to choose a new neighborhood each day and go door to door, sliding these door-hanger flyers over the knobs. There are communities with NO SOLICITING signs but I am not knocking on doors, just putting up flyers and by the way the doors that have NO SOLICITING signs on them I don't even put up a flyer. We have all seen signs that say no soliciting before but have you ever stopped and thought about what such a sign means to you? I used to drop off flyers on people's doorstep, but it was never effective unless I actually talked to them. Every now and then someone would call and complain.
Covenant areas may have a sign located on their entry points, look for those any time you enter a new area, a large fenced off area is a good indicator. But is putting flyers on doors soliciting?
Apartments can be tricky, look for "no trespassing" signs as well as the "no handbills". Posting a sign saying "No flyers, handbills, or solicitors" did nothing to stem the tide. If someone leaves a flyer on your door and you are not interested in the product or service throw it away. Never ever under any circumstances put a flyer on a mailbox, not in it, or on it, or anything. However, any sign that says "no solicitation" you can distribute to, as you are not soliciting. Maybe it would work better in a high end neighborhoods where every house uses a lawn care service. Then I will hand out a few flyers to the neighbors in hope of filling up my schedule more and being able to perform a bunch of jobs before having to reload up my equipment.I’ve had success doing things this way but my could be way off than the results you might find in other areas.
I was placing flyers the other day on doors with tape on the door knobs and received a call from a very angry lady! I never really passed out If you ask me a question or call me, I can sell you on almost anything (I can be very informational with the way I talk). I don’t waste my time any more knocking on doors unless it’s on a street where I’m already performing work. The only illegal way of dropping off flyers is in HOA communities that specifically prohibit the practice..........but, If I happen to be doing a job in an expensive neighborhood, I will take the opportunity to knock on a few of the neighbor's doors to ask them if they would be interested in the same service i provided to their neighbor. The flyers say something like, "Please call us for your free gift!"
You must do a large number of houses 500, 1000, 5,000 or so before you will get some serious results. What would be some advise for doing door hanger marketing? I'm a new floor cleaning business in a competitive area and need to find creative ways to get the word out about my business.
