An enduring classic, Ken Dryden's The Game has lost none of its luster since its original publication in 1983, and remains the one book every hockey fan must know. It worked very well for, and taught me a lot about a game I already love and feel close to, though I have never played it (and, as such, sadly, will always feel it is outside me). Dryden writes about the life of an athlete, coping with the demands of a demanding sport and reconciling these pressures with life outsid… My friend was so proud that he grew up with Ken Dryden and proudly talked about his friendship. With that going for it, I was bored for most of the novel. What makes this book special is the absence of a ghost writer. He said that the book is the best hockey book that he has ever read. And Dryden’s descriptions and commentary on Scotty Bowman are amazing. Only the hockey enthusiasts realize that he also authored "The Game", which achieved rarified air in the sports book genre. I bought this book because it was widely advertised as the bets hockey book ever.
