But while 'Roughing It' doesn't hold up as a movie, it does make a tolerable good miniseries, so I'd advise watching it in installments. Roughing It (Hallmark, 2002) Bearable . Directed by Charles Martin Smith. Mar 30, 2019 - Hallmark Movie - 2018 Mark Twain's Roughing It - Hallmark Movies 2019 Stay safe and healthy. It is extremely accurate and is well made. If you have not seen this film I suggest to rent and or buy it as soon as possible, you won't regret it. Roughing It is dedicated to Twain's mining companion Calvin H. Higbie, later a civil engineer who died in 1914.. Barely scratches the surface and is incredibly PC even though it's almost 20 years old. Don't waste your time. Roughing it is an entertaining made-for-TV movie. This does at least have everyone’s favorite, Movie versions of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer give a much more authentic Mark Twain Experience. But in all even in a relatively long TV mini-series they have to make a selection and Many excellent and subtle satire missing. Avoiding the time consuming and pointless flash back would have allowed more of the actual story as written by twain to be told.
