I feel that larger formations would work better in a total war style game.We had talked about that, but you lose a lot of unit and army variety when you dip into the older Epic scenario by virtue of the scale. They are often less aggressive and expansionist than major factions. Instead they have their armies enter encamped stance to quickly create buildings before moving My main gripe with the current 40k is the distinct lack of fleshed out Xeno races and the excessive focus on humans and corrupted humans.However, 40k does have much more in term of subfactions within the same species.
