Descending a steep hill, I took inventory of a number of restaurants in the Eastgate/High Street area, including some on a relatively carless Stephens Street. It is a small restaurant, so a reservation is probably nearly essential. It was beyond delish. We ordered salmon and a venison on special. If ever in Inverness make a reservation and go to this place, you will not be disappointed. Every bite was delicious. They have delish daily specials, a huge wine, beer and cocktails menu. I came across this cute restaurant not far from our hotel. We had the goat cheese starter, I had the salmon, and my nephew had the venison and haggas burger - everything was amazing! Reservations needed?

A bit begrudgingly, the hostess sat us at a double table without much indication of which half of this seating we were to sit on.

The place is small that's why reservation are almost always necessary.I could not figure out how to get a reservation online, so once in Inverness I walked up to F&T and they promptly gave me a reservation. Ambiance is great, service was fabulous. Hopefully the fig and thistle can answer you. I almost always eat from the specials board as the menu doesn't change much. Sure glade the wife and I were lucky. There have been quite a few recent additions but decided to try out The Fig and Thistle on Stephens Brae, a short walk from our hotel on a rather cold and wet evening. It's a meal I will remember for ages.
It had a smooth texture not highly acidic as most are, that's a plus.

When I returned to the hotel I recommended that street to my wife.I'd just arrived in Inverness and after checking in went venturing about for something to enjoy.
