I love the things, as mentioned they are a close range weapon. the biggest distinction is pulse lasers draw more distributor capacitor and less power plant power while burst lasers draw more power plant power and less distributor capacitor. They're the more general all around laser weapon. Provided Coriolis really is accurate, burst has the highest DPS - though not by much, as well as sits in the middle for energy per second. They have an armor piercing rating of 1, so almost all damage vs hull is negated. Burst lasers generate a moderate amount of heat and consume a moderate amount of energy when fired, and do not require a supply of ammunition.
