The only constant throughout most of the film is Minami’s search for Ozaki, but often a scene will pass and leave you thinking, what was the point of that, or a scene will be actively happening and have you thinking, why is this happening, what is the story here, how does this connect, does this matter? In many ways the plot is nonsensical, almost feeling like a sequence of vignettes at times, but there are deeper layers to the film if you analyze it.

Movies; Gozu; Gozu Review. December 20, 2004 | Rating: B Its Lynchian in the strange surrealism, consuming atmosphere, and creepiness, but also in its use of humor. This is probably a very poor viewing choice for anyone who has never seen a Takashi Miike movie as I imagine the surreal weirdness of it would probably be too much for those people, but if you have seen other Miike movies and you enjoy his eccentricity and sense of humor then Gozu is a worthwhile movie that will have you laughing and cringing on the edge of your seat, often simultaneously. Gozu takes you on a very strange psychosexual journey, which is all the more disturbing because it takes place in completely ordinary surroundings... Anyone in the mood for a gender-bending yakuza comedy/horror film and who doesn't mind seeing a lot of bodily fluids spewing onto the screen ought to give Gozu a whirl. All Harry Potter Movies Ranked Worst to Best by Tomatometer As a film, however, it somehow feels richly, hilariously real, even -- at its most bizarre -- familiar. Movies: Gozu; Reluctant hero Minami is a Yakuza charged with executing his yakuza friend Ozaki (Aikawa).

| Rating: 3/4 Miike splices the yakuza genre with horror, and the result is a narrative as hard to decipher as hieroglyphics - a bizarre blend of a skewed Oedipal complex, homosexuality, misogyny and, in particular, a dislike of childbirth.Thankfully, the twisted tale is tempered by Miike's vivid backdrop, the highlight being the death of Minami's yakuza boss, involving a ladle inserted somewhere dark and unpleasant.Bauer Media Group consists of: Bauer Consumer Media Ltd, Company number: 01176085, Bauer Radio Ltd, Company Number: 1394141Registered Office: Media House, Peterborough Business Park, Lynch Wood, Peterborough, PE2 6EA H Bauer Publishing,Company Number: LP003328Registered Office: Academic House, 24-28 Oval Road, London, NW1 7DT.All registered in England and Wales.

Very surrealistic and I don't even understand what the point of the film really is.

Their boss arrives and Ozaki, who seems like our main character, tells the boss “everything I’m about to tell you is a joke, don’t take it seriously.” This line I think is also directed at the audience as much as it is an exchange from one character to another. Review: Gozu.
