Take US 101 South to Exit 211. All of our roads and sites are dirt. Go 1/2 mile up the hill. for 7 miles. Loved #36 which is tucked away with a great view, plenty of shade and the clean bathhouse very close, yet not too close :). Luckily we were able to get in pretty quickly and while the hubs was working to get in I kept the kids occupied at the swings and bounce pillow! Own or manage this property? We also visited Kevin the Emu and one of the other staff members brought us food to feed him. Motor vehicles are not permitted in the Natural Area.

My grandson loved the pool, playground and jumping pillow. This means you don't have to have your window open to accommodate speakers, a nice touch given that temperatures can drop after dark if the fog comes in.
Regardless prepare for dust... but they warn you on the site. Our fav spot was San Louis Obispo.. we had no idea what a gem this place was! OHV's must be transported to this point before unloading.

The films are typically family fare, with a double feature consisting of two popular current films for a price that's as retro as the theater itself.
The tent sites and most of the RV sites are rather large and private. We opted for a basic cabin which was the perfect solution for not wanting to set up a tent yet still being in the middle of nature. You simply will not find parking lot camping at the Santa Margarita Lake Campground, KOA… The staff are very very friendly and accommodating and run this place well. Go east 1.7 miles thru the little town. Anyways the campsite is very clean and bathrooms are good.
The KOA staff is exceptional and they made our trip pleasant and stress-free. It has a pool, large bouncy pad and lots of lawn games. It’s close to a lake and also not far from Avila beach/piston beach.

The little store has everything you need.

The area is accessible to hikers, bicyclists and equestrians.
