Soon you reach a junction with the trail that heads to Yoho and Emerald Lake.

Very few people on the trail which was nice as well.

The car park is 12 km (7 miles) ahead.

Waterproof boots were definitely nice to have, trail was a bit muddy in some places and there’s a lot of snow at the top and but no special gear needed. During the normal hiking season, no special equipment or extensive route finding is required for this hike though. After driving along the Trans-Canada Highway, you take the winding Yoho Valley Road to the Takakkaw Falls parking area.

After roughly 3 miles descending, the trail meets up with Laughing Falls. The main drop of the waterfall has a height of 254 metres (833 ft).

The hike back to the parking lot is roughly 3 miles from Laughing Falls. At this point, you continue hiking until your meet back up with the Takakkaw Falls parking lot.

We only passed about half a dozen people on the trail to Hidden and Yoho lakes, which was shocking for Canada day weekend.

I assume that the further away from the main road, the less people we will see. You can take a short break to go check out the waterfall up close. After Laughing Falls, you take the Yoho Valley Trail back towards Takakkaw Falls.

'Let's stay there.'

Along the way you can make brief stops to see Angels Staircase Falls and Point Lace Falls.

Stunning views from the top!Great trail. It’s steep going up and coming down but middle section is a great comfortable walk. At this point you begin hiking on the Little Yoho Valley Trail and follow the Little Yoho River through the forest. At the start, follow signs for Iceline via Whiskyjack along the Yoho Valley Trail. After roughly 0.25 miles, the trail turns away from the Yoho River and heads towards the Whiskey Jack Hostel. The sound of the water crashing down is like the call of the Sirens. As the name suggests, this tiny (but vividly colored) lake is hidden by the tall trees circling its banks but you won't miss it from this trail above. short walk from the parking lot. Bugs are pretty bad as you get closer to the lake so bring bug spray. Along the way you'll get amongst the mist of the Takakkaw Falls, pass by glacial lakes, and enjoy views of Emerald Glacier and the surrounding mountains and valleys. First part of it is a challenge as you make your way up the mountain but the second half of the trail is a breeze.

Wildflowers such as globe flowers, yellow glacier lilies and pink mountain heather line the trail with splashes of color. The glacial lake, at the foot of Wapta Mountain, makes a good spot for a break or lunch.

This is a moderate hike that offers amazing views throughout.

The trail continues to climb until about the 5 mile mark where you take a short side trip up a hill to the top of the Iceline Summit. After the first set of lakes, you hike another 15-20 minutes before reaching two more lakes.

The 255m falls are fed by the Daly Glacier (which is out of sight from this section of the trail). Would highly recommend this trail. Highly recommended with the falls, lake and good climbThe falls are gorgeous, and the hike up to Yoho lake is relatively easy and the lake is very pretty, but for me the star of the hike is the portion spent on the ice line trail, the views of the valley are stellar.Désactivez le bloqueur de publicités pour voir la carte de cette randonnéeIceline, Little Yoho Valley and Yoho Valley Trail Loop Glacial lake along the Iceline Trail.

Highly recommend! Takakkaw Falls: Takakkaw Falls Trail - See 875 traveler reviews, 559 candid photos, and great deals for Yoho National Park, Canada, at Tripadvisor. We also took the side trip to Hidden Lake.
