May 3, 2010. That means I'd been wishing for TW:TK to come out for 15 years since 2004 when I first played Rome. Even though it kinda pains me to admit this, I prefer playing unfamiliar WH to TK whose lore I'm practically in love with.
But to each there own, I definitely think the unique hero collect them all kind of feel helps make up for the lack of unitsI don't understand why people complain about fatigue after 100+ hours. Medieval 2 didn't have much unit variety compared to Rome 1; most core units were copy-pasted version of other countries with changed stats and modeling, but it was sufficient to make each faction feel unique and somewhat different from others because slight varieties still shifted balance and unit combinations between nations.
TK really needed unit variety at least at Medieval 2 level to guarantee fun gameplay for a long time in which aspect the game completely failed. I would still consider TK a fine TW game overall with possibly the best game campaign experience, but as a long time fan of this time period and someone who prefers history to fantasy, TK wasn't worked to the point to match the WH series in terms of battle and related aspects including animation, modeling, etc, which you could call the core contents of TW game. Once all the DLC for Three Kingdoms has been released (which is going to include more playable factions and cultures with different unit rosters, as well as more portraits) I think the game will feel quite replayable and packed with content, just as Warhammer I did at the end of its content cycle.
