In 1883, the British government installed one Armstrong 100 ton gun in a battery in Gibraltar that they named the Napier of Magdala Battery. Town: London; Year of creation: 1891. The statue was designed in 1891 by Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm, completed by Sir Alfred Gilbert and depicts Napier wearing a tropical uniform, carrying a pair of binoculars in his right hand, standing on a granite pedestal. Born Henry William Mallin in Hackney.
