Bashir says he feels the whole thing was his fault – he just wanted to prove the group could make a contribution.
He suggests they can save billions of lives by contacting the Dominion by themselves and giving them the classified information on Starfleet battle plans, ending the war far earlier than it should.
While Bashir and O'Brien are in the room, they hear Later, back with the group, Bashir attempts to cheer them up by announcing that Starfleet has granted them access to Bashir tries to convince Sisko of the new information.
